Mitochondrial NAD-dependent malic enzyme (ME2) is a homotetrameric protein that catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of malate to pyruvate. It had previously been weakly linked to a syndrome known as Friedreich ataxia that has since been shown to be the result of mutation in a completely different gene. Certain single-nucleotide polymorphism haplotypes of this gene have been shown to increase the risk for idiopathic generalized epilepsy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms found for this gene.

New England Biolabs, Inc. T7 Endonuclease I – 1250 units
T7 Endonuclease I recognizes and cleaves non-perfectly matched DNA, cruciform DNA structures, Holliday structures or junctions, heteroduplex DNA and more slowly, nicked double-stranded DNA. The cleavage site is at the first, second or third phosphodiester bond that is 5' to the mismatch. The protein is the product of T7 gene 3.

PaqCI is a Type IIS restriction enzyme with a 7 basepair recognition sequence: CACCTGC(4/8). It is sourced from an E. coli strain that carries the modified cloned PaqCI gene from Paucibacter aquatile. PaqCI requires multiple sites for efficient cleavage -- PaqCI Activator is included for optimal cleavage. This enzyme is supplied with NEB's rCutSmart Buffer and is heat inactivated.
